Duke University Will Pay for Transgender Operations!

I thought that I could not be shocked anymore until I saw this link sent to me by a close friend regarding Duke University providing the money for transgender operations:

Duke University plans to raise its student fees in order pay for students’ sex reassignment surgery.

Duke University recently made the decision to raise student fees in order add sex-reassignment surgery to their healthcare plan.

The private university, located in North Carolina, follows Brown and other universities in offering coverage for the controversial operation.

Administrators say they will cover the cost of the reassignment surgery up to $50,000 that will be covered with a 0.3 percent increase to overall student fees.

LGBT advocates on campus immediately celebrated the university’s decision.

“The addition of sexual reassignment surgery with a $50,000 cap makes Duke’s student health care plan one of the most, if not the most, transgender-inclusive plans in the country,” Sunny Frothingham, the outreach chair for Blue Devils United told the Duke Chronicle last week.

The official plan is in-line with a Student Government Resolution passed last March that called upon the school to cover sex change operations. The school previously covered mental health care, hormone therapy and breast augmentation and reduction surgery to students who wished to change their gender.

There are 37 universities in America that cover sex change operations, according to TransgenderLaw.org.  Emory University is the only other college in the Southeast, besides Duke, to offer sexual reassignment surgery to students.

Here is the link: click here.

Consider the implications of this. First, what happens if the person wants to return to his original gender? From my research, it cannot be done.

Second, what will that do to Duke’s enrollment for those who are straight, which is upwards of 97%? Will they want to attend classes at a school that promotes such? That is not prejudice since that has to do with favoring some because of color, but it is a moral problem, changing one’s sexual orientation when born a different gender. God created us male or female (Gen. 1:27), not with the idea of changing so that one can practice sex from the opposite point of view. If would seem that if one is a man, changes to a woman, yet he is still a man but with different “plumbing.” His sexual relationship as a “woman” with a man would be homosexuality, which is forbidden. If one wanted to repent of his transgender operation because he/she had come to Christ, how would he/she do it? We as Christians must not abandon them, but minister the Lord’s grace. I would suggest that they do not change back, if that is even possible, but they must not have sex with anyone. If they are “married” to a person of the opposite gender of their new gender, they must separate, for the “marriage” is not legitimate in the first place. In other words, they were never married as far as God is concerned.

Third, it would seem that having children would be impossible, but would they be allowed to adopt? Given the direction of our culture, Yes, they would, and given how this would affect the children morally and affect society as a whole, our culture will slide into complete self-destruction.

Fourth, if one had changed from man to woman, and wanted to clone to have children, would not the gender be male, thus indicating they were still a man? Would the new artificially injected hormones make any difference?

Fifth, suppose a woman becomes a man but is not sterilized? Can “he” become pregnant? If so, how in the world will it be done, by artificial insemination?

Sixth, can one’s gender actually be changed? I remain skeptical. It seems that what is changed is the outward “plumbing” to look like the opposite gender, but the hormones, personality, and so forth are still the original person. Chromosomes are stubborn, and one cannot change them from male to female or the reverse. The fact is that if a man becomes a woman “she” cannot produce the monthly egg and have a period. It just won’t work. They can pretend, and that is what it is. They can construct boobs, but they will not produce milk for a baby, which they cannot have anyway. You can change the “plumbing,” but you can’t change the gender. If we use the argument reductio ad absurdum (the bottom line), if everyone adopted that lifestyle, in a generation, at the most two, we would disappear.

Of course some argue that they were born with a tendency toward the opposite sex of their “plumbing,” and thus it is God-ordained and ok. But they forget about original sin, that some are born with Down Syndrome, which does not make it right. There will come a time when the human race will not have defects, at the resurrection, but until then we must not make them the norm.

Once one denies creation, especially that we are made in His image and made male and female, the only limit to degradation is how far God will let them go to self-destruct before He judges them into oblivion. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah. For the most part, transsexuals really want weird sex, and all the other arguments are just so much fluff to justify giving themselves over to perversions. The dominoes fall. First, it was homosexuality (LGBT). Now it is same gender orientations, and there will be another step down after LGBT has been accepted—pedophilia, which is already being justified by the “intellectuals.” Bestiality may be bottom line, but who knows? Peter Singer at Princeton is already promoting bestiality, and as one author stated, he has made Princeton not only unsafe for your child but also for your beagle!

But I don’t want to minimize the agony of those who struggle with their feelings versus their “plumbing”; I’m sure it is horrible. Yet the grace of God is sufficient to see them through. But as Christians, let us minister to those who have sexual problems. Many come to know Christ, and their lives are changed, giving up their same sex orientations, giving up their LGBT, and are joyful in their relationships with Christ. Once when I was teaching New Testament Greek in my home, there were storms that kept most from class. We only had a handful so we decided to share how we came to know Christ. One young man said he had been gay, dressing up like women, and having sex with men, often anonymously. Yet he was miserable. He heard how that Jesus loved him, died for his sins, raised Himself from the dead, and that he could have forgiveness of sins and victory over his sexual problem. He trusted in Christ, and that night with tears in his eyes and great joy, he said, “I knew there was a God in heaven when, after my conversion, I saw a nude man and did not desire him.” He was engaged to a fine Christian girl, and they got married. This the power of the gospel! AMEN.

  1. 1. your right its hard for it to be undone, and pretty much impossible,. That is why you need to jump through many hops to get to the actual surgery. All done to make sure you are actually doing the right thing. Most people, as I understand it, are very happy afterwards.

    2. It is prejudice to not want to attend classes at a school simply because a class of people are there. Whether you want to justify it with a religious reason that is fine, but its still you being prejudice. Furthermore god did not create people male and female. Do some research on intersex conditions. Some intersex individuals right down to their chromosomes are quite literally male AND female. So that kind of debunks that all theory. I wont even touch the topic of your suggestion on how people should repent or w/e.

    3. Yes having children is impossible at the moment for male to females. Yes they can adopt. To be fair i guess everyone has their owns standards on who should be able to adopt a child. I guess I am just silly and weird to want someone who would love the child as if it was there own and bring the child up to be a loving and caring individual who accepts everyone for who they are…. regardless if the person doing the raising of the child is trans or not…

    4. Cloning? What?

    5. I will just leave this here… http://i2.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article761289.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/THOMAS+BEATIE.jpg i am sure you will love that picture lol.

    6. While I am assuming you are just going to say what I am about to say is BS I will still try to explain. Trans individuals are not changing their gender. They are matching their body to their gender identity. Gender identity is different then the sex one is born. Since it is impossible for one to change their gender identity to match the sex they were born physically, trans individuals change their body to match their gender identity. The hormones are not the same, because well that is the point of hormone replacement therapy. The chromosomes do stay the same that is true. But like I said in #2, your whole chromosome argument is not entirely accurate. Atleast for the intersex individuals who may transition. Also transwoman can produce milk.

The rest of your arguments. Again you say God created men and women….so where do intersex individuals fit in. Now I am guessing you could always change your argument to well if you have a penis your a male and a vagina your female, no matter what your chromosomes say. But what about those who have the presence of both male and female privates?

How do you know what transsexuals want? I mean honestly. How can you justify saying that. Unless you have some weird kinky thoughts of your own and you just assume transsexuals must think the same or something…

Who says that if lgb individuals are accepted that people will accept pedophiles? Those who act on their pedophile tendencies injure the children. In no way does that have anything to do with LGB individuals since like straight couples, LGB couples just want to be with their loved ones, their OF AGE AND CONSENTING loved ones. Totally different issues and that’s just plain fear mongering. Same with your bestiality argument. Its not 2 consenting adults. So your argument is irrelevant.

I wont touch that last paragraph since well I try to be respectful of other peoples religion… even when they try to use it to shove their own personal beliefs down other peoples throats.

Also, back to the point of this whole post… you were commenting about the Duke paying for trans operations. Trans individuals do not want to be treated specially, they want to be treated equally. I am guessing you see the surgery as elective and therefore dont think it should be covered (well that reason along with your other religious reasons etc). Many people, including likely the people who help put this in place see it as necessary surgery. LIke i said before, you cant change your mind to match your body you can only change your body to match your mind. Some people need to transition. It is that simple.

Lastly, before you make a huge post about LGBT issues, you should really do some research. And I dont mean read the bible on the issue. They dont really have anything on trans people in there anyway. Do some research on the issues. Atleast afterwards if you still think its bs you can atleast say you have done some research.

    • Thank you for the reply. Sorry for my delay, but as dean of a seminary and pastor of a church, it is difficult to find time. I will make some short replies. I’ll number my paragraphs the same as yours, which were the same as mine.
      1. Whether people are happy or not with their transgender sexual operation is irrelevant. The questions is whether it is holy, the right thing to do. In my article I submitted that it was not right. With those who work with such, they have found that they often just want to have sex another way, though in some rare cases they do have trouble. As a Christian, I would want them to cross the moral issue first. More on this later.
      2. I would like to see the research on some being one gender in chromosomes and another gender in their genitals. I remain skeptical. As for being prejudiced in not wanting to attend a college where said college is justifying same sex unions with transgender operations, or wanting to be the other gender just because they don’t like themselves, or think they have a problem, you equivocated on my definitional of “prejudiced.” I made it clear that prejudiced, as used in our society, refers to discrimination based on color, not based on morality. Many black ministers, some of whom were in the Civil Rights movement, have reacted strongly against those they say are “highjacking” (their word) the Civil Rights movement and applying it to LGBT. A large group of black ministers in Memphis, TN took out a full page ad several times in the local paper in reaction to that, condemning in clear terms same gender relationships, saying that was NOT what the Civil Rights movement was about.
      3. In this paragraph, you said: “Yes having children is impossible at the moment for male to female [transformation]. Yes they can adopt. To be fair i guess everyone has their owns standards on who should be able to adopt a child. I guess I am just silly and weird to want someone who would love the child as if it was their own and bring the child up to be a loving and caring individual who accepts everyone for who they are…. regardless if the person doing the raising of the child is trans or not.”

You are 180 degrees out of phase with your answer. You are defining morality with love rather than love with morality. If “everyone has their own standards” regarding adoption, then there is nothing to debate. There is no objective morality, which could be applied to bestiality, as Peter Singer at Princeton is already arguing for (which I can document). Pedophiles should have the right to adopt because they will be “loving.” It is morality that defines love, such as what St. Paul says in Romans 13:8-10:
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Rom 13:7 NKJ)

Is is loving to commit adultery? Is it loving to murder? Is it loving to steal? Is it loving to bear false witness? And so on. We can see that Paul quotes several of the Ten Commandments and says those define love. If we have it your way, then if people say it is loving, they can kill one another, swap wives, steal their property, kill babies by the millions, even after they are born, and so forth, all because it is loving.

      4. In this paragraph, you say: “Cloning what?” Here is what I said: “If one had changed from man to woman, and wanted to clone to have children, would not the gender be male, thus indicating they were still a man? Would the new artificially injected hormones make any difference.” I said cloning the “woman” who was once a male would still be a male.

      5. Your link is probably the product of some graphics program. Funny.

      6. As for gender identify not being the same as body gender, send me proof. I’ve personally seen homosexuals, males, who thought they should have been women, dressed like women, wanted to have sex as a woman, but then they there were converted to Christ. Their lives were changed, the other gender orientation they had went away, and they were delighted to be males, married women, and had children. You’re arguing for psychological determination, so there went the whole world of counseling. No one can change, which extinguishes all hope. But I’ve seen the same change with women who thought they were men. Indeed, James Dobson, a Christian Psychologist who has counseled hundreds of such males, and written about it in Bringing Up Boys, has said that he has never seen a homosexual male who had a good relationship with his father, thus confirming that a wrong orientation is learned and can be reversed by the grace of God. But once he counseled them, many of them learned to relate to God as Father, and their lives were forever changed.
Those who have the presence of both genders in their bodies are extremely rare, and usually correct themselves in time. One does not make normal the abnormal. Moreover, your argument seems to be that what is, is normal, which not many accept. If we did, then down syndrome would be normal and not birth problems should ever be research to correct them. Also, your argument seems to be from “is” to “ought,” which is a logical fallacy pointed out by David Hume, now called Hume’s Guillotine. You seem to be saying that if something is a certain way, it ought to be that way, which is a non-sequitor.
As for God creating male and female, we stand by that. As for defects in those born, there is original sin that has caused defects in some births, but they are the exception, not the norm.

You said: “How do you know what transsexuals want? I mean honestly. How can you justify saying that. Unless you have some weird kinky thoughts of your own and you just assume transsexuals must think the same or something…” (I don’t know what you’re talking about.)
You said: “Who says that if lgb individuals are accepted that people will accept pedophiles? Those who act on their pedophile tendencies injure the children. In no way does that have anything to do with LGB individuals since like straight couples, LGB couples just want to be with their loved ones, their OF AGE AND CONSENTING loved ones. Totally different issues and that’s just plain fear mongering. Same with your bestiality argument. Its not 2 consenting adults. So your argument is irrelevant.”

My response is that we Christians said when Roe vs. Wade was past that next would be infanticide and then euthanasia. The domino effect came just as we said. Gosnell is on trial for infanticide, Kevorkian spent years in jail for helping people die, and the movement spreads. In Houston recently, one of the hospitals let a woman starve to death over the objections of the family. Oregon is trying to pass a right to die law. Remember Terry Schiavo. When a culture turns from the Triune God and His commandments who is life, as ours has, there is only one option: death (Proverbs 8:36). Life now is cheap in the USA.

Moreover, you are very naïve. It is not gender equality that people want, it is total sexual anarchy. They will not stop until there is nothing left sexually to explore. Mark my words: just as the murder of the unborn has led to infanticide and euthanasia, it could further lead to genocide, and the hated of Christians is already being noticed even by atheists, such as the atheist lady S. E. Cupp who wrote Losing Our Religion about the media unmercifully attacking us Christians, and Tammy Bruce, a lesbian atheist, who wrote The Death of Right and Wrong. There will be three who will marry (already happening if you keep up with the news), then four, of both genders, then animals will join crowd. When one wants to divorce the others, who will get what property and who will get what children? In all cases, the children will be the losers, and pedophilia will come soon―mark my word.
Here is what Peter Singer has said: “In a 2001 review of Midas Dekkers’ Dearest Pet: On Bestiality, Singer argues that sexual activities between humans and animals that result in harm to the animal should remain illegal, but that “sex with animals does not always involve cruelty” and that “mutually satisfying activities” of a sexual nature may sometimes occur between humans and animals, and that writer Otto Soyka would condone such activities” (at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Singer#Bestiality) Then there is Judith Levine, highly respected in academia, who wrote Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children From Sex? Pedophilia is already here, dear sir, at least in academia.

Then you said: “I wont touch that last paragraph since well I try to be respectful of other peoples religion… even when they try to use it to shove their own personal beliefs down other peoples throats.” Of course, your statement is caustic, so you were not respectful, but I really don’t mind. You’re saying exactly what the Lord Jesus said you would say in John 15:18-22. Everyone, including you, tries “to shove their own personal beliefs down other peoples’ throats.” Every law enacted is someone’s morality or immorality. It can’t be otherwise.

In your next to last paragraph, you said once again that “you cant change your mind to match your body you can only change your body to match your mind.” How do you explain those converted to Christ, who come to Him confessing their sins, and the one I mentioned in my last paragraph or my original post, who indeed did change his mind?

You keep saying that I have religious reasons for my thoughts, but implying that you have reasoned ones. I think it is just the opposite. Your faith in your world view cannot be supported by reason, but ours can. Thus, we have faith based on evidence but you do not. It is so much pie in the sky and wishful thinking. Here is another book I recommend: Geisler and Turek, I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist. If you’re up for a challenge, read it. And by the way, I often read books by atheists and agnostics, which are very encouraging as they have little to offer but death and circular reasoning. I even write an occasional treatise on such.

You are the one, dear sir, who is caught up in an irrational religion. You are disgusted that I rely on religion, while you do the same by virtue of your world view that determines how you evaluate me and other Christians. You have compartments to your thinking and not a unified whole, of which “religion” is one of those compartments, how do you justify such diversity? What holds them together? My world view is the sovereign creator, the Triune God, and there is nothing that is not subject to His immediate jurisdiction, whether that be logic, science, religion, morality, sexual issues, and so on. Too complex to go much further in this post.

I would encourage you also to research, especially from sources that state the opposite of what you think the research is. I’ve given you one book by a Christian psychologist, and another by a Christian philosopher and a Christian theologian, and two by atheists. Read them and tell me what you think.

      • dont have time to read and fully reply at the moment but I did see you thought the link to a picture was fake.

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2132381/The-Pregnant-Man-splits-wife-just-finalises-female-male-gender-surgery.html

I dont have time to find the actual new stories about when he got pregnant, but if you read past the most recent drama pertaining him they talk about how he was pregnant lol. I m not sure if he had to go off the drugs to do it or not, I just know that he had already begun transitioning from one gender to the other when he had the kids.

      • From the link, we learn that “he” was a “she”, which means she could get pregnant. She changes to “male” later, but still had all the female organs, which means the one who get pregnant was all the time female. The testosterone injections gave her enough male hormones to have some “male” hair. Simple enough. And “she” broke up her home so she could be a “male,” which is exactly my observation–self-destruction. As usual, the children are the real losers, but they don’t matter when it comes to the wants of those who want to change genders.

  2. I have long wondered about the logic behind statements like, “I was born this way.” I do not mean to minimize their struggle or downplay their suffering, but a feral inclination or desire is not legitimized or justified, because it is resident in us at birth. Otherwise, rapists and racketeers, hoodlums and hooligans would all be deemed innocent.
