Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

Richard Dawkins, a leader in the New Atheist movement, wrote The God Delusion, and Christian scholar Alister McGrath, with a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics and another in historical theology, formerly an atheist, wrote an excellent and very readable work in response to Dawkins, The Dawkins Delusion: Atheist Fundamentalism and the Denial of the Divine. McGrath’s work is much smaller because, as McGrath says, there is very little of substance to respond to. If Dawkins could sustain a rational argument, he would not need to resort to name calling and constant outburst of emotion. These New Atheists are like the Pharisees of Jesus’ day: when He uncovered their assumptions, as Christians are doing today with atheists, especially in the intelligent design movement, they could not answer Him so they crucified Him.
